How To Replace:

The window sash is the wooden frame that holds the window glass in place. Place this with the putty facing up on a work surface to begin work. Scrape off the putty and pry out the points from the perimeter with a screwdriver. It is important to use the wood for leverage so as not to damage the glass. Apply even pressure in order to remove the glass to get ready to put in your wooden windows replacements.

It is then advisable to brush the wood with a wire brush to remove any excess debris. If you chose to, you can then sand the wood in order to make it look nice and even. After doing this you should apply a bead of caulking around the window where the glass rests. With the replacement glass in the window sash press down in order to make sure it is firmly in place. Use a screwdriver to push the points back into place and then fill the gaps with glazing putty. Be careful when using putty as it requires a lot of practice in order to be able to apply smooth beads.
